▌ Kingdoms of Remnant

Vale
A safe haven from the Grimm

More commonly known as the Western Kingdom, Vale is located on the northeastern end of Remnant’s largest continent, Sanus. Tucked safely between mountains at its front and shallow waters at its back, the kingdom boasts rich and temperate climates, with beautiful landscapes ranging from the Emerald Forest to the Forever Fall Forest. Mild and generous in weather, Vale arguably contains the densest population out of any other kingdom, resulting in a highly industrialized community. Stretching to the coast are smaller cities residing by the waters, including Patch, where Signal Academy lies. Many of its geographical features have made it difficult for Grimm to make it to the core of the kingdom - the city of Vale where Beacon is -, making Vale a relatively safe area to live in. The island of Vytal is situated to the north of the kingdom.

Due to its protected region, Vale is home to those with a penchant for city life, consisting mostly of suburbs. Being a megapolis, the people are culturally vibrant, accepting of many in their industrial lifestyle, whether it be downtown or in the dead center of the capital. Though multicultural, Vale has its own unique style, borrowing ideas from the other kingdoms to make their own. While there is class discrepancies, they are far and few, with the nobility at the top, middle class right below, and working class at the bottom. However, Vale’s allowance to higher education and more equal wealth distribution have let people gain upward mobility in social ranking. It’s recommended to never ask personal questions about one’s status or stance.

Vale is home to the academies of Signal and Beacon. Considered one of the four main Huntsmen academies, Beacon is home to students who wish to keep peace within the world. Lying along the eastern edge of Vale, a wide river runs through the school, with both naval and air transportation available to reach the academy. Being a residential boarding academy, students are expected to live with their teammates at the school in the dormitories. In order to be accepted into the academy, students must pass the rigorous entrance exam, where most would attend Signal for prior preparation. Beacon’s current headmaster is Ozpin.

▌ Kingdoms of Remnant

Vacuo
Any who can survive here are welcome here

Once a lavish and plentiful oasis bursting with natural resources, Vacuo was hospitable site for all who came to it. Its ancient society, complacent with their lifestyles, breeding weakness and abuse of the environment around them as the largest source of Dust. A combination of dust mining, conflict, and ecological disasters wrought the paradise into a wasteland, barren without any trace of its original glory. As a nomadic kingdom, the people would travel from place to place, surviving off what they could to fend off the Grimm. Now in the center of a vast desert, Vacuo struggles to keep up with the other kingdoms.

Considered less ‘prim and proper’ by its fellow kingdoms, Vacuo has a somewhat lawless society. Like the others, it has a council, though very few truly follow the guidance of said government and the government has little influence on its people. The academy itself is the only place where it can be considered to have any true law and order, though the citizens have a large amount of mutual respect for each other due to one unspoken rule: should you be able to survive here in our badlands, you are welcome in our kingdom. Many are extremely tolerant of the Faunus, even thinking well of them due to their ability to thrive in Vacuo. As a result, the kingdom has the largest Faunus population of any other and the least amount of racism; rumors say that the White Fang has roots within the desert.

A source of order, Shade Academy serves as the huntsman academy within Vacuo. So long as a student has the will to fight, whether they be a Faunus or a human. Rather lax and laidback, the school allows self-expression by the student, lacking a proper uniform for them. Though having combat experience is recommended, those who are new to it are instructed until they are considered capable to work on the field. Shade’s current headmaster is named Alexander Caluades, though he’s known by the population as ‘Alexander the Great’.

▌ Kingdoms of Remnant

Atlas
Government, military, and education are one

Frigid bitter temperatures served as a harsh but utilitarian natural barrier against the Grimm among the great mountain ranges. Through thick and thin, the early settlers built a population in the snowy environments, allowing the formerly known Mantle to thrive as an industrialized and highly advanced community, boasting the most technologically advanced inventions of all the kingdoms. One could find the Schnee Dust Company’s headquarters, the largest supplier of Dust, located there and the latest bustling equipment known to no other in the world. Those in Atlas are famed for their development of the Cross Continental Transmit System.

Slightly frowned upon for their insistence that government, military, and education should be considered one entity, Atlas citizens are rather conservative, retaining a strict regimen and formal customs. With the military so blended into their culture, the people of Atlas have a history of lack of self-expression and machines fitting in with their community. Proud of their military power and ways, Atlas considers their way of living the best, placing them in conflict with the other kingdoms, and particularly, Vale. They view Faunus as a cheap resource for labor and think poorly of them. With shows of power to prove themselves as the dominant powerhouse of Remnant, technology continues to rapidly increase in Atlas with something new popping up practically every day. As of recent, they seem to be doing research to transfer both semblances and the Maidens’ powers from one individual to another; whether it’ll be used for harm or for good is another question in its entirety. Internal strife exists between the City of Mantle and City of Atlas.

Atlas Academy, formerly known as Alsius, imposes a strict imposition of military lifestyle for its students. With specialization in military personnel and the integration of military training, its students are prepared to join the army whenever they graduate. Under the instruction of headmaster General Ironwood, the academy is becoming more and more militaristic with the passing time. No one knows whether it will be able to retain its reputation as a huntsmen academy at this rate.

▌ Miscellaneous

Menagerie
All for the Faunus

A landmass in the southeast of Remnant where Faunus are given their own sanctuary as a compromise for the Great War, Menagerie is home to the largest Faunus population of all, being for the Faunus and only of the Faunus. Though it’s large with a massive amount of space, much of it is uninhabitable, creeping with dangerous wildlife and barren deserts reminiscent to those in the wastelands of Vacuo. In places where the Faunus are able to live lie lush tropical coasts with crystal clear water, the kind that give the image of a vacation resort. Yet, teeming with new Grimm and poisonous monsters, and unusable farmland gave the Faunus a close compact place to call their own community. Much like Vacuo, Menagerie is a rich source of Dust, though no one, not even the Faunus living there, are aware of that fact. After all, its deserts never allow anyone to come back alive.

Piggybacking off the reception in Anima, few can say that Menagerie is anywhere close to technologically advanced, remaining low compared to the rest of the world. Peaceful and modest, the Faunus there remain in Menagerie to preserve their war-free and quiet lives, containing several war veterans and those who wish to live in harmony and equality with one another. Humans are welcome to the island, so long as they preserve the peace while they are there. Racism of any kind is not tolerated, and should one be too disruptful to the community, they are asked to leave and never come back.

Formed as a peaceful protest organization for the rights of Faunus-kind, the White Fang actively fight for the Faunus, working to improve relations between the two species as a sort of diplomatic group representative of their kinsmen. Yet, as time has passed and failures from both the Humans and Faunus have led to unresolved racial creeds, the White Fang have adopted more and more radical methods, beginning their reputation as a notorious group that all should be wary of with the continuing racism. As of now, no one is really sure who the White Fang leader is, aside from the members themselves.
